The Successful Lawyers

The drawn-out and acrimonious divorce battle that two lawyers had done their best to keep going for as long as they could by egging on the litigants had finally come to an end. 
   At last the long-awaited property division was over, and nothing remained to be fought over.  The peace that both litigants could ill afford and that would keep them impoverished for the rest of their lives had set in.

The two lawyers in the case stood on the steps in front of the court house and shook hands.  "That worked out rather well", said one lawyer to the other, "I got the house in town, the Lexus and what was in the savings accounts, and you got the cottage at the lake, the Suburban and the stock options."
